can you smell the dike?
In Porto many buildings are decorated with hand painted tiles. But because there are a lot of vacant buildings around the city that are not taken care of by their owners, many tiles are missing. I wanted to question who decides what visuals we surround us with in public space, and how we can react to it, and maybe reclaim this.
I asked people on the street and during our open studio to paint on tiles thoughts on who owns public space. These tiles i glued in the night on empty houses where tiles were missing. From the tiles I made a small publication that was part of an exhibition.
